In the Summer of 2009 I visited a beautiful country with these lovely people and our hearts were changed. God was at work while we were in Malaysia and continues to work there through His people and fellow believers. Please be in prayer for the Tamil Indians, the Chinese, and the Malay people that God will soften their hearts and that they will come to an understanding of who Jesus is. You will never meet any nicer people than the people there and their hearts are so full of love. Chris Tomlins song " God of this City" kept playing over and over in my mind as I saw the needs there, the poverty, the many gods they worship and the darkness from the ruler of darkness. I thank God that there are people there who are believers and that are sharing the good news of Jesus with these people. Greater things are yet to come, Great things are still to be done is this City!

After being Unemployed for two years God brought me to a beautiful place. This place is the Roanoke Rescue Mission. The Roanoke Rescue Mission has been around since July 2nd 1948,  and the services it provides are endless. When Ashley Furniture closed it doors in September 2008 I said i would never work another " job " I felt God's tug on my heart to be involved in a ministry outside of my music and here is where He brought me. I encourage you to take time to come to the mission, take a tour, and volunteer. You will never be the same again.  You can contact the volunteer Coordinator at the bottom of this page to find out more on how you or your church can volunteer at the Rescue Mission.

Lois and Gus’ vision of a Rescue Mission that was open and available to all people, supported by many and open 24/7 to people in need, has become a reality. Today the Rescue Mission is the largest homeless shelter in the state of Virginia and with the partnership of churches, businesses and other organizations, offers a variety of programs to help thousands of hurting people.

Today there is a state of the art campus with more than 398 beds to accommodate the Mission’s programs. There is a dedicated staff of 95 talented and faithful people. There are over 4,000 willing and cheerful volunteers. There is an Executive Board of 24 passionate people from the community. There is a budget of approximately 3 million dollars.

Most important of all, the Rescue Mission has remained true to its original purpose of “helping hurting people in Jesus’ name.” The Rescue Mission continues to be an open door to people in crisis—people just like Gus Johnson. We believe that if we are faithful to the One who has been faithful to us, that God will honor our work and complete the transformation from brokenness to wholeness, from darkness to light, from despair to hope.
